This series captures my first attempt at photographing New Jersey’s High Point Monument in front of the setting sun, a composition made possible by careful planning in the PhotoPills app. My first eligible vantage point was none other than Bracco Farms in Pine Island, NY where I’d been volunteering some of my time while learning about the hard work that goes into farming. At a distance of 10 miles, the size of the monument is small relative to that of the sun and, although I seemed to have missed the ideal alignment by a day due to weather, the conditions yielded a reddish sunset and definitely one worth seeing.
